Endodontics
Microscope-assisted root canal treatment and re-treatment, with same-week appointments for pain.
What it is
Saving teeth, comfortably.
Endodontics is the treatment of the inside of the tooth. When the nerve becomes inflamed or infected, root canal treatment can often save a tooth that would otherwise need to be removed.
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, and we explain each step before we start.
You can come to us directly, or your dentist can refer you.
Common reasons to visit
Why people come to see us
Most root canal care starts with one of these. If you are in pain now, please call us.
A tooth aches or throbs
Lingering pain can mean the nerve is inflamed and is worth assessing promptly.
Sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers
A sign that the inside of the tooth may need attention.
Swelling near a tooth
Can indicate infection. Call us straight away if swelling is spreading.
A previously treated tooth is sore
Re-treatment can often resolve problems with an older root filling.
Your dentist has suggested a referral
We work alongside your dentist and keep them informed.

Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, so it should be no more unpleasant than having a filling. The tooth may feel tender for a few days afterwards.
Treatment is often completed over one or more visits, depending on the tooth and any infection. Your clinician will explain what to expect for you.
An infected tooth will not heal on its own. Without treatment, the usual alternative is to remove the tooth. We will explain the options so you can decide.
Many treated teeth, particularly back teeth, need a crown or filling to protect them. We will discuss this with you as part of your plan.
